The Virginia Health Care Freedom Act, Senate Bill 417, was passed by a one-vote margin in the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee, upon which Senator Deeds sits.

This riddle is no joke

There’s a riddle that asks the question, “What’s the difference between socialism and communism?”
The answer, “A few days.”
Socialism, Marxism, Communism…One can discuss the differences as long as he’d like. But one thing is for sure: all of them are catastrophic. Unbelievably, there are some who actually think socialism is [...]
It’s official: Hurt to miss Charlottesville Tea Party Forum
After much speculation about his participation in Charlottesville’s January 22, 2009 5th District Tea Parties Republican Candidate Forum, Senator Robert Hurt’s campaign manager, Sean Harrison, has confirmed to forum organizers that the candidate will not attend tomorrow night’s event.
Tea Party officials were hopeful that despite his General Assembly obligations, Hurt would participate along with the [...]
RSWA settles Van der linde lawsuit
The Hook is reporting a settlement in the unjust Rivanna Solid Waste Authority vs. Van der linde Recycling lawsuit.

Kristin Szakos: Free pizza and phone calls for Coakley
Neophyte Charlottesville City Councilor, Kristin Szakos, played party host to a phone bank event last evening on behalf of Massachusetts Democrat Senatorial candidate, Martha Coakley. Held at the home of newly selected Charlottesville Democrat party co-chair, Jim Nix, the gathering was sponsored by Organizing for America, an offshoot of the Democrat National Committee.

Things are supposed to be “bad” in Charlottesville.
Tenebrous projections for multi-million dollar City budget deficits abound, and Charlottesville City Schools, crying poor, are waiting for the ax to fall as state and local “cuts” loom large.
But despite the doom and gloom expounded by Charlottesville officials, times are good for City employees, whose threadbare stockings were [...]
Everything new is old again: Charlottesville Dems choose “new” leadership
Charlottesville Democrats claim to have selected “new” party leadership for 2010, but boy does it smell stale.
Quasi-reformer Jennifer McKeever—who slightly loosed the reigns on Charlottesville Democrats’ ultra-exclusive elitist nomination process—is out (along with silent partner and Van der linde Recycling lead persecuter, Jonathan Blank) only to be superseded by Charlottesville Central Party Democrat master manipulator, [...]

Society Needs More Patriarchs

As a participant in high school forensics, I recall being involved in debate regarding women’s rights, and the equal rights amendment. My opponent, who was female, brought up a quote that I’ve not been able to erase from my mind. She quoted Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who with Susan B. Anthony, [...]
Perriello postures; the 5th District laughs
Fearful of forfeiting his cushy congressional seat after a disastrous first year in office, desperate Democrat Tom Perriello has issued another press release—devoid of substance—in a last-ditch attempt to mollify outraged constituents.
After boastfully hosting 21 town hall meetings throughout Virginia’s 5th District in which attendees overwhelming urged the boy Congressman to reject the socialist health [...]
